what is the meaning of 'culture'? i mean, i have the ability to look it up, but do we have 'culture' in the states or in texas? if so, what is it actually? to respect the culture here, we westerners (me, for example) must not dress disrespectfully or inappropriately. who decides what is respectful? i get the gist of it but, what is respectful or not can be ambiguous and certainly differs from state to state and country to country. do we westerners have a specific culture that we require visitors or new citizens to adhere to? other than not breaking the law, what is required of non u.s. citizens?
that being said, i think i'm going to stop observing their requested dress code here simply because its too flippin' hot!
ok, so i was on the bus earlier and this really fat woman dressed in complete birkha crammed her hefty self into the seat next to me (she was utterly oozing into my personal space). then she moved across the aisle (perhaps i smelled?) and put her dirty barefeet in the seat next to me. cultured? i think not.
i'm late in posting cause i had decided to end the blog as one of jeff's co-workers laughed at me last week (this guy) . . .
. . . due to the fact that i only have 17 followers. but i've since decided that i'm not finished bitching about random stuff yet. so he (craig, chris? i can't remember) can suck it.
as mentioned in my last blog, i did go to the doha islamic museum and took approximately 67 pictures of different q'uran (which i won't show here cause it would bore you to death - perhaps a suicidal bombing?) but here's a couple. they're really quite beautiful and in many different languages and scripts:
we finished up our trip to doha with a lame workout at the intercontinental hotel gym and a laze about on the beach complete with umbrella drinks. it was almost like being on a tropical island except it was the desert, and the breeze was like the breath of satan.
took another zumba class the other day - still look like an graceless, ungainly white lady. going again here in about 30 minutes. maybe some god (buddha?) will grant me some coordination.
gotta run,
tricia
