yesterday during my sweltering morning stroll to starbucks, i saw a car accident. dozens of times during the day, there are screeching tires and near misses in our frequently gridlocked neighborhood. one taxi seriously rear-ended another. i don't think i've ever seen a crash before; it was creepy and a bit scary. you'd have thought a bomb went off in the street too in the way that everything just stopped and things got eerily quiet. i wasn't a rubber-necker though and didn't see the outcome. after all, there was a dulce de leche frappuchino with my name on it.
i also went to a new grocery store yesterday that i had never been to (yes, i know; everyone wishes they could be a part of this neverending excitement). the store is called "abela's" -- isn't that a hunting/fishing store in texas? up until now, i only knew of one market that sold pork. in reality, there are two (maybe more? - i must find them all). i loaded up on pig products. those evil swine. and the pork is different here. the sausage (giggles all around) i bought was white. i think sausages in the states are brown. do they put food coloring in it or are the pigs in the states just tan? i don't think the brown makes it more appealing. but the white color did confuse me.
last night jeff and i watched 'inside job' - a documentary about the economic meltdown in 2008. its appalling that this handful of greedy men have not been prosecuted, are involved in obama's administration and are still making millions of dollars. the movie was sickening and heart-breaking. a must-see if you want to be pissed off.
i just finished watching the second half of the mavs game on slingbox (slingbox is AWESOME). i almost had a heart attack at the end. but even with a fever of 102, dirk kicked some heat heinie. i wish i could be in dallas for all the fan frenzy.
today holds an equal amount of adventure with laundry, zumba, a second workout and a search for some cointreau. i might actually go buy a blender too. yawn.
missing all my family and friends overseas,
tricia
