apparently, there isn't any in the airport. while jeff and i were waiting for our flight to oman in the etihad airlines lounge, the 20ish man across from us farted - and it was audible. he even lifted his right butt cheek for better velocity. then he did it again (twice!!) while we were in line to board the aircraft. i could not stop laughing. i recently read that its ok to rip one on an airplane (i honestly can't remember where i read that) because a) its so loud, no one can hear it, and 2) no one will know that it was you. but i think there are rules about 'tooting tact' in the pre-boarding lounge.
here's a pic of a camel statue in the abu dhabi airport:
we landed at muscat tuesday morning then waited in 3 lengthy queues for visas, immigration and some other b.s. and finally arrived at the intercontinental hotel after noon. after consuming a non-descript lunch in the pub, jeff had to go to work and i had to work off dessert (still trying to keep up my '5k every other day' regime). by the time i worked out and showered, i didn't have much time to explore; but i did go out to the beach and take a few photos:
tuesday night, since jeff worked late, we headed down to the 'tomato' - the restaurant here at the hotel that overlooks the sea of oman. jeff in his element:
post cigars and scotch, we headed back to the room and watched the superbowl. i had downloaded the bittorrent several days ago and jeff and i did our best to avoid any american television for fear of seeing the result of the game. although the torrent didn't have any of the commercials, it was a pretty intense game.
yesterday i went to riyam park so i could climb up to the top of this tower (that supposedly looks like an incense burner). but when i got there, the road to the top was gated and locked, so that was a bust. then i trekked over to the muttrah souk (about a mile in the hot sun - i think i'm pink now) to do some shopping. i don't know if i've previously mentioned, but everything here closes down at about 12:30 or 1pm every day then opens back up around 4. i arrived at the souk about 1:30 and most shops were closed, but i did find one store with arabian princess shoes (place your orders now ladies). jeff worked late again last night, so we hung out here at the hotel and went to 'senior picos' for another middle eastern mexican feast. this one was a 3 on a scale of 1-5 (nothing compares to chuy's or mi cocina unfortunately). when i get to dallas, will someone partake of a swirl at chuys's with me?
i'm off to the gym as today is my 5k day. jeff's only working half a day today; this evening we're back to the souk.

I'm that swirl girl at Chuy's! It's me!!!
In for the swirl and queso. Could it be as good as in the 80's when the queso was free and the truck was pink? Oh, if we're there it will be as good or better.xoxo
