new friends

thursday night, jeff and i went to ladies night at 'oceans' in the le royal meridian to meet some new friends i made on fb - linda, corina and katherine:

ladies night is a popular event here in abu dhabi. one can be found any night of the week, where women can freely guzzle fruity cocktails to their heart and liver's content. before we ventured over to oceans, i didn't realize how important the form of dress is for this event and just donned a tank top and jeans. after we arrived, we discovered these little mini-celebrations of all things female, are the see and be seen events for single people and hookers. the mounds of satin and sequins were increasingly blinding as the evening wore on. next time, i'll be sure to slide on my cfm pumps and slather on a little more eyeliner before disappointing the doorman.

i also recently discovered that a lot of ex-pat men here have 'girlfriends'. their wives live in whatever country they hail from and are oblivious to this tradition. strangely enough, our hotel apartment management sent a letter to jeff the other day re-stating the rules and letting us know that 'streetwalkers are strictly forbidden in the building'. hmmm. should i be concerned?

this just in: 'roxette' and joe cocker are coming to the uae for a concert. we're so lucky; we get all the coolest and up to the minute performers here.

why does steven tyler continue to wear those feathered roach clips from the 80's in his hair? that would be similar to me wearing leg warmers and trying to look cool.
