today our internet service was out all day cause the building management didn't pay the bill. um, okay. say it with me real slow -- M - O - R - O - N - S. i realize we're sort of living in a third world country, but give me a break. i've forgotten to pay my utility bill before, but i was 20 and that act of negligence didn't inconvenience a population. yeah, i get a little pissy (and have a toddler meltdown) when i've lost contact with my peeps and the rest of the civilized world.
so i decided to walk to the hilton -- which is 4 miles from the apartment (uphill, both ways). and I learned in a hurry that flip flops are not the right footwear. i tossed the shoes about 20 minutes in and went the rest of the way barefoot. also not the best choice. but upon arrival at the hilton, i located the icy, amber goodness that is a bitburger at 'hemingways' bar. and there was much rejoicing and then we . . . (if you are a hasher, you know what comes next, but i won't go there). i met two gentlemen from lebanon who knew i was a democrat within 5 minutes of conversing - about the ludicrous dick cheney. joseph and mohammad told me where the best lebanese and indian food restaurants could be found here and also invited me to a 3 hour lunch tomorrow. if i want to get intimate with a couple of 70 year old dudes, i know where to go now. at least somebody is checking me out. BRING IT -- WINNING!!!
i've broken the third washer/dryer contraption. i am officially 'the appliance slayer'- feel my wrath!
i think i've finally achieved 'bachelor' overload.
