mmmmmmmmmmmexican food

its good to be back in texas where the tortilla chips are plentiful, the rivers of queso run deep and the swirls are heaven. wednesday, i went to "gloria's" (which is actually a mexican/salvadoran restaurant) with friends from my graduating class at cedar hill high school . . .

. . . and a crunchy, cheesy good time was had by all.

when i'm walking the dogs, we usually have brief conversations which are mostly one-sided like: "hey, come here!"; "stop!"; "you'll never catch that squirrel", etc. yesterday we were walking by a particularly white-trash house overly decorated with too much easter kitsch when i said to daisy:" "that house looks like crap". then i noticed the owner standing on her front porch. "oops! sorry, got to go; just let me pick up my dog's gift to your yard right over here next to your tacky, green easter bunny."

why does pizza hut need to stuff the crusts of their pizza? isn't there enough crap on top of it already? how can a meat lover's pie really need more cheese, pepperoni and sausage crammed into the edges? they are contributing to the obesity of my two dogs.

the jet lag finally caught up to me and there was an ugly smack down - it won. i went to bed at 8 and slept for 12 hours. sometimes, bed is the greatest place to hang out. i totally don't get that saying "i'll sleep when i'm dead". i'll sleep whenever i want, thank you very much. consciousness is occasionally overrated.

yesterday i attempted to set up a 'slingbox' so that jeff and i can continue our tv addiction over in abu dhabi. in our apartment there, we only have about 10 english channels which run 3rd rate sitcoms like 'melissa and joey' (which i'd never heard of) and movies like 'ice castles' - really. the slingbox is supposed to be really easy to set up (nope; not even close). i like to think i know a bit about i.t. related stuff, but (imho) tv technical savvy is completely different. i spent an hour skyping with jeff where he asked me mysterious questions like, "are you using the 'y br p b' cables" or "what's connected to the hdmi port". um, the cables are green, blue and yellow, so this bit of cryptic information is not helping. after an hour with jeff and an hour with technical support, we figured out that the slingbox is defective. super!

alright, gotta run. more mexican food is calling.

love,

rotund tricia, the mexican stuffed pinata
